Hyderabad Traffic Police Book 1,349 Cases Over Free-Left Obstruction and Minor Driving

The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a total of 1,349 cases during a week-long special enforcement drive targeting motorists obstructing free-left lanes and minors operating vehicles across the city.

The dedicated drive was carried out between August 12 and August 18. According to official data from the traffic department, the enforcement resulted in 1,015 cases registered against motorists for blocking free-left corridors, while 334 cases were booked against individuals involved in minor driving.

Traffic officials explained that free-left lanes are specifically designated to facilitate the uninterrupted and smooth movement of vehicular traffic at major road junctions. When motorists obstruct these corridors, it leads to severe congestion and slows down overall traffic movement across intersections.

In addition to addressing lane obstruction, the department focused heavily on curbing underage driving during the campaign. The Traffic Police issued a stern caution to parents and vehicle owners against allowing minors to operate two-wheelers or four-wheelers.

Authorities reminded vehicle owners that permitting an unlicensed person to drive is an offence under the law and attracts legal action against the vehicle owner. Officials emphasized that underage driving poses a grave safety risk to both young drivers and other commuters on the road.

Traffic authorities stated that the enforcement campaign would continue on city roads to instill traffic discipline and enhance overall road safety. The department urged all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and cooperate with on-ground enforcement personnel to maintain smoother traffic flow and ensure safer transit.

Citizens have also been encouraged to report observed traffic violations directly to the department through official Hyderabad Traffic Police social media platforms or by dialing the Traffic Helpline at 9010203626.
