Hyderabad to Host Telangana-Korea Cultural Festival on October 25

The city of Hyderabad is set to host a joint Telangana-Korea cultural festival on October 25, 2026, as part of a collaborative effort by the Telangana government and the Republic of Korea to strengthen tourism and cultural cooperation.

The plans for the upcoming festival were discussed during an official meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday, June 29, 2026. Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea, which was led by Hwang Ilyong, the Director of the Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) and Counsellor (Culture and Press).

According to Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, the festival will serve as a major platform to showcase the cultural heritage, performing arts, music, dance, and cuisine of both Telangana and Korea. The initiative aims to promote tourism, foster mutual understanding, and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two regions.

During the discussions, the Tourism Minister highlighted the rising popularity of Korean culture in India, particularly among the younger demographic. He noted that Korean dramas and entertainment content have successfully attracted a large and dedicated audience on over-the-top (OTT) streaming platforms.

Minister Rao emphasized that this growing interest presents significant opportunities for tourism promotion, cultural exchanges, and collaboration in the creative industries.

The event is expected to pave the way for deeper bilateral cooperation, allowing both Telangana and the Republic of Korea to explore joint initiatives in creative sectors while showcasing their respective cultural traditions to a wider audience.
