Hyderabad Skater S Pranav Madav Wins Three Golds At National Ice Skating Championship

Hyderabad’s ice speed skater S Pranav Madav secured three gold medals at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship held in Dehradun. The local athlete dominated the competition by winning the 500-metre, 1,000-metre, and 1,500-metre speed skating events, boosting his ongoing preparation for the 2030 Winter Olympics.

On the final day of the championship, Madav fulfilled his dream of a golden hat-trick by winning his third gold medal in the 1,000-metre event. He completed the race with a timing of 1 minute and 33 seconds.

Prior to his final-day victory, Madav emerged victorious in the 500-metre speed skating event. He recorded a timing of 44.70 seconds in the race, displaying explosive speed and flawless technique. He followed up this opening victory with another dominant performance in the 1,500-metre race, securing his second gold medal and establishing himself as one of the standout performers of the national championship.

Madav's journey to the national podium began under the mentorship of coach Abdul Qudeer. Under Qudeer's guidance, the young skater laid the foundation of his career, developing the discipline, work ethic, and passion required for competitive sports. The confidence and determination built during those early years continue to drive his athletic career today.

Following his early training, Madav transitioned to professional-level training under coach Abbas Iqbal Lasaniya. Through structured training programmes, expert coaching, and continuous support, Lasaniya helped transform Madav into a professional athlete. This phase of his training placed a strong emphasis on technical excellence, physical conditioning, and mental strength.

Currently, Madav is training under renowned Canadian coach Andrew Frederick. Under Frederick's international-level guidance, the Hyderabad skater is refining his skills, enhancing his performance, and working relentlessly to meet the demanding standards of Olympic competition as he prepares for the 2030 Winter Olympics.
