Hyderabad RO's Warangal Unit Wins NHAI Green Highways Award for Median Plantation

HYDERABAD — The Warangal project implementation unit (PIU) under the Hyderabad regional office of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has won first place for median plantation at the NHAI Green Highways Excellence Awards.
The national recognition was announced following an assessment of highway greening initiatives undertaken by project implementation units across different regions.
Alongside the Warangal unit's achievement, the Amaravati PIU under the Vijayawada regional office secured the first prize for avenue plantation. In another category, the Nagpur PIU bagged the first prize for plantation work carried out in land parcels.
Nominations for the annual Green Highways Excellence Awards were invited through an online portal. The NHAI then reviewed and evaluated the shortlisted entries to determine the winners across the respective categories.
The selection process was conducted using a 100-mark evaluation framework. Under this system, entries were assessed on multiple operational and ecological parameters, including the survival rate of plantations, the development and execution of site-specific action plans, the quality of planting material used, protective measures implemented to safeguard plants, and overall species diversity.
