Hyderabad Road Adjoining US Consulate Renamed Donald Trump Avenue

On Tuesday, June 23, the road adjoining the U.S. Consulate in Hyderabad was officially renamed 'Donald Trump Avenue' during a gala reception celebrating 'Freedom 250', the 250th anniversary of American Independence. The event was jointly hosted by the Ambassador of the USA to India, Sergio Gor, and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of a ceremonial plaque commemorating the renaming. Conferred by the Government of Telangana, the designation of 'Donald Trump Avenue' was described as a tribute to the United States and an acknowledgement of Hyderabad’s increasing importance in U.S.-India relations.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Gor underscored the Hyderabad consular district’s contributions and its continued relevance for strategic cooperation. He noted that the region's progress, stretching from Hitech City to aerospace and defense, is actively defining the bilateral momentum between the two countries.
Ambassador Gor also highlighted the economic impact of the partnership. He stated that an interim trade agreement and Mission India are currently on track to bring over $20 billion of new investment to the United States, proving that the "America First" policy does not mean America alone. He expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Telangana for the road renaming, calling it a gesture that reflects a strong and respectful partnership.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka congratulated the American people on the occasion of their 250th Independence Day. He highlighted Telangana’s active role in fostering closer ties with the United States.
Consul-General Laura Williams, presiding over her first Independence Day reception in Hyderabad, hailed the region’s pivotal role in driving technology cooperation. She emphasized that the innovation ecosystem spanning Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha—covering aerospace, defense, artificial intelligence, and biopharma—is shaping the global future. Williams affirmed that the consulate remains committed to ensuring the free flow of talent and ideas to fuel this growth.
