Hyderabad Records Only 9% Completion in SIR 2026 Voter Enumeration

HYDERABAD — The voter enumeration process for SIR 2026 in Hyderabad has recorded a slow start, with only nine percent of the enumeration forms completed so far, according to the Chief Electoral Officer.
The low completion rate highlights challenges in the ongoing voter registration and verification drive across the capital city of Telangana. Electoral authorities are working to address the slow pace of the roll revision.
To address concerns regarding the process, the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer explained the details of the SIR process. The Chief Electoral Officer stated that voters whose names are missing from the electoral rolls can use Form 6 to restore their names and ensure their participation in future elections.
In response to the current enumeration progress, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi has urged the Election Commission to adopt advanced technology to streamline the process. The political party has requested the use of artificial intelligence and Aadhaar-based verification to ensure a strict "One Citizen-One Vote" implementation.
The call from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi aims to prevent discrepancies and ensure the integrity of the voter rolls as the enumeration continues. The party argued that these measures are necessary to maintain a clean database.
The low completion rate of nine percent in Hyderabad has raised concerns among political parties and electoral authorities alike regarding the pace of the voter registration drive. The SIR 2026 process is crucial for updating the electoral rolls and ensuring that every eligible citizen is registered to vote.
By pointing out that Form 6 can restore missing voter names, the electoral authority hopes to address the issue of voter exclusion. This provision allows individuals who find their names omitted from the drafts to officially request their re-inclusion.
As the enumeration process continues in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, both the authorities and political organizations are urging the public to actively engage with the voter registration drive to improve the completion rates.
