Hyderabad Police Seize Scooter Carrying 5 Minors, Book Vehicle Owner

Hyderabad police detained five minor boys from Mallepally in Nampally and seized their scooter within 24 hours after a viral video showed all five crammed onto the single two-wheeler heading towards Lakdikapul.

Police initiated action after the clip circulated widely on social media platforms, showing the boys laughing and posing for a photograph while riding dangerously together on their way home.

Following the incident, police registered a case under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act against the owner of the scooter, who was identified as the elder sister of one of the minor riders. Officials also issued a formal notice directing the vehicle owner to appear before the investigating officer.

“Based on the video on X, our teams acted swiftly, caught hold of the minors and seized the vehicle, booked cases against the vehicle owner who is one of the minor rider’s elder sisters,” said police officer B. Venkat Reddy.

The minors were brought in for questioning and received counselling regarding the severe dangers of their actions before being produced before the Juvenile Justice Court.

“We counselled the minors not to repeat as they are not only endangering their lives but also of other commuters violating the traffic rules and produced them before Juvenile Justice Court,” the police officer said.

The video had initially gained traction on X and Instagram, amassing over one million views in less than 24 hours. The individual who originally uploaded the clip later clarified that the post was intended to alert law enforcement authorities to the hazardous stunt rather than to pursue viral attention.
