Hyderabad Police Seize Five Vehicles Over Fake and Tampered Registration Plates

Traffic police registered five criminal cases over the course of one week against vehicle owners accused of using fake, tampered, or unauthorized registration plates. The legal actions were taken across several jurisdictions, including the Punjagutta, Chilkalguda, Kanchanbagh, and Bandlaguda police station limits in Hyderabad, alongside the Dindi police station area in Nalgonda district. Law enforcement personnel seized all five non-compliant vehicles during the operations.

The crackdown was initiated following an increase in complaints submitted by citizens who reported seeing vehicles operated with fraudulent registration plates on public roads. According to authorities, vehicle owners were using altered plates in deliberate attempts to obscure vehicle identities and systematically evade traffic enforcement measures.

Following these public complaints, police personnel intensified enforcement drives targeting vehicles that failed to adhere to prescribed number plate standards. During the inspections, officers identified multiple instances of non-compliance and initiated criminal proceedings against the offending vehicle owners.

Traffic officials clarified the legal guidelines regarding vehicle identification, stating that only government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legally allowed on vehicles. Any deviation from these authorized plates is considered a violation of traffic norms.

Authorities noted that prohibited infractions include missing digits on the plate, structural alterations to the registration sequence, and the unauthorized display of temporary stickers. Police confirmed that all five vehicles involved in the violations have been seized.
