The Hyderabad Police have seized approximately 36 tonnes of material, including 25.5 tonnes of adulterated ghee and 10.5 tonnes of raw ingredients, during a major citywide enforcement drive.
The large-scale operation was conducted by the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST), a specialised unit operating under the Commissioner’s Task Force.
According to officials, the crackdown specifically targeted multiple units across the city that were engaged in the illegal manufacturing and sale of adulterated ghee. Inspections were executed as part of a comprehensive special enforcement drive to curb food adulteration practices posing health risks to consumers.
During the raids, the surveillance team confiscated massive stockpiles of finished adulterated ghee alongside the raw components used in its processing.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar is expected to address the media to provide comprehensive details regarding the inspections, the specific nature and chemical extent of the adulteration uncovered during testing, and the subsequent legal proceedings initiated against the violators.
