Hyderabad Police Inspect 562 Hotels Under Operation Kavach

On Friday night, the Hyderabad Police conducted intensive security inspections at 562 hotels and lodges across the city, including Nampally, Ameerpet, Secunderabad, and Charminar, under a special initiative called 'Operation Kavach'. The massive late-night drive, which took place between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., was launched to strengthen internal security and monitor potential anti-social activities.
Nearly 5,000 police personnel were deployed across Hyderabad to execute the operation. Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar personally supervised the drive and warned hotel managements against violating guest verification norms. During the operation, Sajjanar visited several lodges near the Nampally railway station and in Ameerpet to review room allocation procedures and interact with guests regarding their place of origin and purpose of travel.
During the coordinated operation, police teams inspected hotel registers, verified guest identity checks, and examined visitor records and rooms. A total of 562 establishments were inspected during the two-hour window. This included 119 hotels in Khairatabad, 92 in Shamshabad, 86 in Jubilee Hills, 86 in Golconda, 82 in Secunderabad, 53 in Rajendranagar, and 44 in the Charminar zone.
Commissioner Sajjanar issued strict directives to hotel and lodge operators regarding compliance with safety norms. He instructed managements to maintain proper guest records, verify original identity documents, and accurately record check-in and check-out details. He also emphasized that rooms must not be allotted to minors under any circumstances.
Additionally, the commissioner instructed the establishments to ensure that all CCTV cameras are fully functional and to immediately alert the police about any suspicious activity. Sajjanar warned hotel managements that strict legal action would be taken against any establishment found violating these prescribed security norms.
