Hyderabad Police Arrest Three, Seize 1,840 Nitrazepam Tablets in Kamatipura

The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Rajendranagar) and Kamatipura police have arrested three individuals for allegedly possessing and peddling Nitrazepam-10 mg tablets. Officers seized 1,840 tablets worth an estimated Rs 1.23 lakh, along with three mobile phones and Rs 1,000 in cash during the operation in Kamatipura.
Police initially apprehended 27-year-old Mohammed Ashfaq near Grace Hospital in Kamatipura, recovering 800 Nitrazepam tablets from his possession. Following his interrogation, police widened the investigation to track down his suppliers.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rajendranagar) S Sreenivas, Ashfaq disclosed that he had procured the contraband from Hathagale Ramjaane, alias Ram, aged 20, a resident of Manger Basthi in Mallepally, and Mohammed Imran, aged 31, residing in Attapur. Both Ramjaane and Imran were actively involved in supplying and selling the tablets across the city.
Acting on the information provided by Ashfaq, joint teams from the Task Force and Kamatipura police conducted raids and arrested Ramjaane and Imran. Investigators recovered 140 Nitrazepam tablets from Ramjaane and another 900 tablets from Imran, bringing the total seizure to 1,840 tablets across 184 strips.
Police investigations revealed that Ramjaane allegedly sourced the pharmaceutical drugs from three individuals identified as Rohan, Ajay, and Karan, all residents of Manger Basthi in Mallepally. Authorities suspect the trio to be the primary suppliers in the network. All three suspects are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them.
According to police officials, the accused procured the prescription tablets at approximately Rs 20 per tablet, or Rs 200 per strip, and resold them to consumers at an inflated rate of around Rs 50 per tablet, or Rs 500 per strip, generating illegal profits.
