Hyderabad PDS Rice Distribution Resumes For 1.06 Lakh Families After Two-Month Gap

The Civil Supplies Department has commenced its July public distribution system (PDS) rice and food grain distribution drive in Hyderabad and across the state. The distribution officially resumed on Wednesday, July 1, after a two-month gap.
Prior to this rollout, the department had last distributed ration in April, when it provided three months' worth of supplies in a single distribution. Following that consolidated drive, regular monthly distributions were paused for two months.
To support the resumption of the drive, the department has positioned a ready stock of 2.15 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of food grains across various fair price shops statewide.
According to department officials, this initiative is designed to ensure immediate foodgrain access for more than 1.06 lakh families. In total, the drive is expected to cover 3.41 crore beneficiaries who rely on the subsidized food grain distribution.
Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra has issued directives to ensure the smooth execution of the distribution process. He directed officials to closely monitor all digital transactions and biometric authentications in real time to prevent any lapses.
To support these transparency measures, officials confirmed that fair price shops are actively utilizing electronic point of sale (ePoS) systems. The implementation of these ePoS systems is intended to guarantee zero supply diversions and maintain complete transparency for the public during the distribution process.
