Hyderabad Metro MD Orders Plans for 10 Stations After Begumpet Inspection

Hyderabad Metro Rail Additional Managing Director Ajit Reddy on Monday directed officials to prepare station-specific development plans for 10 metro stations as a pilot initiative aimed at enhancing passenger amenities. The directives were issued following an inspection trip that commenced at the Begumpet metro station and extended to Raidurg.

During the visit, Mr. Reddy travelled by metro train from Begumpet to Raidurg to inspect platforms and concourses at various stations along the route. The inspection included the busy Ameerpet interchange station, where he assessed operational arrangements and existing passenger facilities.

Sanitation and cleanliness around several metro stations were key areas of review. Mr. Reddy noted that the maintenance of central medians beneath the metro viaducts requires considerable improvement and explicitly instructed officials not to compromise on cleanliness standards.

While reviewing street-level infrastructure and amenities, Mr. Reddy emphasised the need for better utilisation of parking spaces and called for more systematic parking management, particularly during peak commuting hours. He also inspected commercial spaces developed beneath metro stations and reviewed how those spaces are being utilized.

Stressing the importance of passenger convenience and safety, Mr. Reddy stated that providing commuters with a comfortable, safe, and seamless travel experience should remain the organisation’s top priority.

According to an official press release, Mr. Reddy was accompanied during the inspection by Hyderabad Metro Rail Chief Engineer Y. Sayapa Reddy, Executive Engineer K. Shyam Mohan, General Manager (Security) Srinath Reddy, and other officials.
