Hyderabad Marks 80th Independence Day with Celebrations Across Key Departments

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across Hyderabad on Saturday, with central and state government departments, civic bodies, and welfare associations holding ceremonies in localities including Petlaburz, Banjara Hills, and Chikkadpally.

Under the aegis of the Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate, official celebrations took place at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburz. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar attended as the chief guest and unfurled the national flag before receiving the ceremonial Guard of Honour. The Commissioner paid tributes to freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence. Following the ceremony, he presented certificates of appreciation to 72 police officers and personnel in recognition of their exemplary dedication, meritorious service, and operational excellence.

At the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) located on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills, celebrations were held with grand patriotic observance. Superintendent of Police Manohar attended as the chief guest on behalf of TGICCC Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy and unfurled the national flag.

In Chikkadpally, TGSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagireddy unfurled the national flag at the RTC Bus Bhavan near the RTC crossroads. Speaking on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, he stated that the day serves as a sacred occasion to remember the sacrifices of the individuals who laid down their lives for the freedom of the nation.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) marked the day at its head office with the hoisting of the national flag, the singing of the national anthem, and tributes to freedom fighters. CMC Commissioner G Srijana appreciated the commitment and efforts of the CMC workforce and encouraged employees to continue serving citizens with dedication, responsibility, and a strong sense of public service while recognizing staff for their contributions.

At the Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther hoisted the national flag at his official residence and camp office. The programme commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the flag unfurling and the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

Celebrations were also conducted by the Telangana Fire Services department, where Director G.V. Narayana Rao hoisted the tricolour at the headquarters and at the State Training Academy. Officers and personnel from the Chief Office, the State Training Academy, and the Fire Station in Gachibowli participated in the events.

Across the city, commercial bodies and residential welfare associations also participated in the day's observances, hoisting the national flag, singing patriotic songs, distributing sweets, and paying homage to freedom fighters.
