Hyderabad Man Threatens Ex-Fiancee with Acid Attack After Broken Engagement

A 33-year-old private company official has lodged a complaint alleging that a man threatened to throw acid on her face and kill her following the cancellation of their engagement, besides subjecting her and her family to harassment, intimidation, and defamation in Hyderabad.

According to the complaint, the couple got engaged on April 5, but the marriage was called off on April 25 due to alleged demands for money, abusive behaviour, suspicious conduct, and threats. The woman stated that she had previously lent the man around Rs 15 lakh for breast-cancer drug research, which he failed to repay. She claimed that he began harassing her and her family after she demanded the money back.

The complainant stated that the accused issued threats to her and her parents, made abusive and defamatory statements, sent false allegations to her relatives and workplace, and placed unwanted delivery orders at her residence. She also alleged that he directly threatened to kill her or throw acid on her face.

The woman had previously approached the Vanasthalipuram police station, leading to the registration of FIRs on May 26 and June 24 on charges of stalking and intimidation. The man was subsequently sent to judicial remand after the complainant provided CCTV footage and other supporting evidence to the Vanasthalipuram police.

However, the harassment allegedly continued online. The woman stated that on August 4, she discovered a false complaint had been filed against her using an email ID that did not belong to her. She also alleged that another fake email account, impersonating her brother, was used to communicate with and mislead her workplace colleagues.

According to the complainant, the fake complaints, digital impersonation, and public defamation were orchestrated to pressure her into abandoning efforts to recover the Rs 15 lakh loan. The Malkajgiri cybercrime police are currently investigating the allegations.
