Hyderabad Man Caught by Locals in Bismillah Colony Disposing of Girlfriend's Body

A man who allegedly murdered his pregnant 21-year-old girlfriend was caught by residents in Bismillah Colony in Hyderabad in the early hours of Monday while attempting to dispose of her body in a gunny bag.
According to police, the accused, identified as Ahmed Salam, worked as a waiter at a function hall. On Sunday night, Salam allegedly stabbed and strangled his girlfriend, Rehana Begum, in the presence of his mother, Ayesha. Salam then packed the victim's body into a gunny bag with plans to get rid of it before dawn.
The incident came to light around 4 am on Monday when local residents spotted Salam, his mother, and two associates rushing toward the Bismillah Colony Nala carrying the bag. A neighbour reported seeing a leg protruding from the gunny bag, prompting residents to immediately dial 100.
When confronted by the locals, the group attempted to flee, leaving the body near their house in Bismillah Colony. Residents chased Salam and apprehended him as he tried to climb over a wall to escape. His mother panicked, retreated into her house, and latched the door from the inside.
A police beat patrol soon reached the spot and, with assistance from the residents, chased and arrested Salam's two associates as well as Ayesha. Assistant Commissioner of Police D. Pradeep Kumar Reddy stated that Ayesha, who witnessed the murder, confessed to the crime and admitted they intended to dump the body before fleeing to their native place in Patna, Bihar.
Investigations by the Balapur police revealed that both Salam and Rehana were natives of Patna and had worked at the same function hall, where they entered into a relationship over the past year. Rehana, who was allegedly three months pregnant, had been insisting on marriage for the past three weeks. Salam, suspecting her of being involved with another person, lured her to his house, attacked her with a knife, and strangled her to death.
Following the arrests, ACP Reddy, Balapur Station House Officer Sudhakar, and CLUES teams arrived at the scene to collect evidence. The victim's body was subsequently shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem examination.
