Hyderabad Heroes Defeat Mumbai Dreamers 41-17 To Win Rugby Premier League Season 2

The Hyderabad Heroes secured the HSBC Rugby Premier League (RPL) Season 2 championship title after defeating the Mumbai Dreamers 41-17 in the final match at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attended the summit clash as the chief guest, watching the action-packed final before presenting the championship trophy to the victorious home side.
Following their victory in the final, the champions Hyderabad Heroes received ₹45 lakh in prize money. The runners-up, Mumbai Dreamers, claimed ₹25 lakh for their second-place finish. In the third-place play-off, the Bengaluru Bravehearts defeated the Chennai Bulls to secure their position, receiving ₹15 lakh in prize money.
The 13-day tournament was organised by GMR Sports in partnership with Rugby India. The second edition of the league featured six men’s franchises competing in a total of 34 matches, all held in Hyderabad. A total of 84 players participated in the men's tournament, which brought together 54 international players from 19 different countries to play alongside 30 Indian players.
This season also marked the official launch of the women’s Rugby Premier League. The newly introduced women's competition featured four franchises, playing 14 matches with 48 players. Delhi Redz emerged as the champions of this inaugural women’s tournament.
Reflecting on the growth and impact of the league, Rugby India President Rahul Bose stated that the second season had surpassed the inaugural edition in terms of attendance, quality of competition, sponsorship, fan engagement, and broadcast reach.
Sujoy Ganguly, the Chief Marketing Officer of GMR Sports, also commented on the tournament's conclusion. He stated that the successful completion of the second season reflected the organisation’s long-term vision of developing new sporting ecosystems across India.
