Hyderabad Firm Stitches India's Largest 120x80 National Flag Hoisted in Hospet

A Hyderabad-based manufacturing agency, Flags and Poles, has stitched what it claims is the country's largest national flag. Measuring 120 by 80 in dimensions and weighing 100 kilograms, the tricolour was hoisted on a 420-foot-tall flagpole at the municipal ground in Hospet, Karnataka, on the occasion of Independence Day.

The massive flag was manufactured using specialized polyester material sourced directly from Surat in Gujarat. Locals gathered in large numbers at the municipal ground in Hospet to witness and record the flag-hoisting ceremony amid patriotic fervour.

According to K Padmavathi, founder of Flags and Poles, the agency selected high-quality cloth specifically suited to withstand outdoor conditions. She explained that the fabric does not wrinkle, shrink, or fade easily, while also allowing the flag to retain its shape, dry quickly, and endure strong winds over time.

The stitching process took one week to complete at the agency's facility, strictly adhering to the specifications outlined in the Flag Code of Rules 2002. Once manufacturing concluded, the flag was transported across a distance of 380 kilometres from Hyderabad to Hospet and delivered two days ahead of Independence Day.

Padmavathi described the project as a proud moment for her family. Her elder son, K Srikanth, provided the technical expertise required for setting up the 420-foot flagpole, which ranks among the tallest flag installations in India, ensuring the gigantic tricolour could be successfully hoisted.
