Hyderabad Event Marks 2nd Southasian Commemoration of Doyens of Peace

A hybrid event held in Hyderabad for the 2nd Southasian Commemoration of Doyens of Peace brought together artists and youth from across South Asia, receiving around 190 video submissions and marking the official release of a 300-page eBook.

The programme centered on the theme 'Digital Stages- Shared Heritage: Youth Connecting Southasia through Culture and Tech'. Mazher Hussain of the Doyens of Peace South Asia stated that the initiative used digital platforms to enable teams from Bhutan, India, and Pakistan to co-create dance and song videos showcasing their shared cultural heritage.

The event commemorated the contributions of three prominent regional figures who worked for peace in South Asia: Adm. Ramdas, former Chief of the Indian Navy; Karamat Ali, a labour rights and peace activist from Pakistan; and Tapan Bose, a peace activist from India.

Selected top videos created by youth were live-streamed during the commemoration. Alongside the video broadcasts, a 300-page eBook containing contributions and videos from youth and prominent South Asian figures was released.

The eBook was jointly launched by representatives from across the region, including Lalita Ramdas and Rita Manchanda of India, Sheema Kermani of Pakistan, Omer Selab of Afghanistan, Maneesh Yadav of Nepal, Dema Lhamo of Bhutan, and Lutfa Pathan of Bangladesh.
