Hyderabad Electoral Officer Releases 2002 Constituency Map for Voters

The District Electoral Officer of Hyderabad on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, released a constituency-wise correlation statement to help local voters, including those in Charminar, trace their 2002 electoral records. This new mapping document links the current Assembly constituencies within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits to the old boundaries that existed in 2002, assisting citizens with the ongoing SIR 2002 exercise.

The release of this statement comes as the Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated the linking of present voter details with the SIR 2002 list. Because subsequent delimitation exercises merged polling stations from multiple old constituencies to form new ones, tracking down older records has previously been difficult for electors. The correlation statement resolves these mapping issues by showing exactly where old polling stations have been redistributed.

According to the newly released correlation statement, all 15 Assembly constituencies within the current GHMC limits have been mapped. To use the document successfully to find their previous data, voters must know the name of their previous Assembly constituency from 2002.

For residents in the Charminar constituency, the present boundary now includes 41 polling stations from the erstwhile Yakutpura constituency, 59 polling stations from Chandrayangutta, and 107 polling stations from the old Charminar limits.

Similar changes affect other parts of Hyderabad. The present Malakpet constituency now contains 210 polling stations from the old Malakpet and 22 from Yakutpura. The Amberpet constituency incorporates 173 polling stations that were previously under the Himayatnagar constituency.

Additionally, the Nampally constituency comprises 135 polling stations from Asif Nagar and 93 from Karwan.

Because of these shifts, voters from the erstwhile Himayatnagar constituency must now search for their 2002 details within the present Amberpet or Khairatabad constituencies, as polling stations from Himayatnagar were merged into these two areas. Likewise, electors who were enrolled in Asif Nagar in 2002 will need to look for their records in the present Nampally, Khairatabad, or Goshamahal constituencies.
