Hyderabad Doctors Report Rise in Viral Fevers in LB Nagar and King Koti

Outpatient consultations for viral fevers, influenza-like illnesses, and acute febrile conditions have surged across Kamineni Hospitals' facilities in LB Nagar and King Koti amid ongoing monsoon weather and elevated humidity levels in Hyderabad.

Medical specialists noted that patients arriving with seasonal viral fevers, H1N1 flu, and early-stage dengue are presenting nearly identical clinical symptoms during the first 48 hours of illness. Furthermore, diagnostic evaluations have shown that a significant number of patients presenting dengue-like illnesses are testing negative for vector-borne pathogens and are instead suffering from acute viral infections.

In response to the seasonal rise in cases, senior physicians and infectious disease specialists from the hospital, including Dr M Swamy, Dr Hari Kishan, and Dr Srikrishna Raghavendra Boddu, have urged the public to completely refrain from over-the-counter self-medication and avoid indiscriminate antibiotic use.

The doctors advised that if a fever persists beyond three days, residents should not assume the illness will resolve on its own. Instead, patients are encouraged to seek early laboratory diagnosis and get evaluated with same-day blood tests to ensure appropriate medical care.

To prevent the further spread of infections, the hospital's medical team advised people across Hyderabad to implement a synchronized two-track prevention strategy. This involves enforcing strict vector control measures by clearing stagnant water receptacles weekly to stop mosquito breeding, alongside practicing disciplined personal respiratory hygiene, frequent handwashing, and mask usage in crowded indoor settings.
