Hyderabad DMHO Directs Officials to Intensify NCD Screening and Follow-Up

Hyderabad District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Putla Srinivas directed health officials and field staff to conduct regular surveys for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), identify beneficiaries, and ensure continuous medical care and follow-up across the district.

Speaking at a review meeting held at the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan auditorium in Secunderabad on Thursday, Dr Srinivas instructed officials to step up regular NCD screening and ensure that all suspected cases are registered online without fail. He stressed that follow-up care for identified beneficiaries must be carried out consistently.

The review meeting brought together programme officers, senior public health officers, medical officers of urban primary health centres (UPHCs) and basti dawakhanas, supervisory staff, women health workers, and data entry operators.

Dr Srinivas stated that in addition to conducting routine NCD surveys, authorities must ensure that the necessary medicines for beneficiaries remain readily available. He directed health staff to place a special focus on healthcare services for residents in slum areas to guarantee uninterrupted access to medical treatment.

During the session, the DMHO also emphasised maternal healthcare, instructing officials to register pregnant women as soon as their pregnancies are identified and provide them with all required medical examinations and services. Furthermore, Dr Srinivas directed staff to build public awareness regarding seasonal diseases and implement preventive measures to curb their spread.
