Hyderabad District Begins Month-Long Electoral Roll Revision With Triple BLO Visits

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls commenced in Hyderabad district on Thursday, launching a month-long door-to-door verification drive that will run until July 24. To ensure no voter is left out, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are mandated to visit every household at least three times if a residence is found locked or the elector is absent during initial visits.
The month-long exercise aims to update the electoral register by allowing residents to verify their records, update residential addresses, and enroll new eligible voters. The assigned BLOs will distribute and collect the filled Enumeration Forms directly from households during their visits.
For citizens who were not enrolled during the 2002 SIR rolls, the election authority has provided a facility to retrieve the voter details of their parents or grandparents. These ancestral details can be entered into the Enumeration Form. BLOs will assist residents in identifying these records using printed hard copies of the 2002 electoral rolls, which are also searchable online.
Residents who have relocated can apply for a change of address by submitting Form-8 to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). The applications for address updates will be processed during the designated Claims and Objections period, which is scheduled from July 31 to August 30. The approved changes will be reflected in the final electoral roll.
If an eligible voter is away from home or residing abroad, any adult family member is authorized to fill out and sign the Enumeration Form on their behalf to ensure their inclusion in the rolls.
To complete the process, electors must keep key documents ready for verification. For identity proof, acceptable documents include the Aadhaar Card, EPIC (Voter ID), Indian Passport, driving licence, or PAN Card. For proof of address, residents can present an electricity bill, ration card, bank passbook, or rent agreement. Date of birth can be verified using a birth certificate, school certificate, or Indian Passport, alongside a recent passport-size photograph.
Voters can also access online services to register or update their details through the Voter’s Service Portal. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on October 1. For further assistance, residents can contact the toll-free helpline at 1950.
