Hyderabad Court Sentences Siblings to Death for Murdering Retired Railway Employee

A local court in Hyderabad on Monday, June 8, 2026, sentenced a brother and sister to death and their mother to life imprisonment for the murder of a retired railway employee at RTC Colony in Moula Ali, under the limits of the Malkajgiri police station.

The court convicted the three family members for poisoning the victim, Kishan Maruti Suthar, by mixing datura fruit in his food, and subsequently chopping his body into small pieces in an attempt to dispose of the remains.

The three convicted individuals were identified as the victim's wife, Ganga Bai, his son, Kishan Suthar, and his daughter, Prapulla.

According to the police, the deceased, Kishan Maruti Suthar, was a retired railway employee who received a monthly pension of Rs 30,000. Maruti lived with his wife Ganga Bai, his son Kishan, and his daughter Prapulla in their residence at RTC Colony in Moula Ali.

The police stated that Ganga Bai, Kishan, and Prapulla frequently quarreled with Maruti, demanding money from him to cover household expenses and other personal needs. When Maruti refused to give them the money they demanded, the trio allegedly planned to kill him.

To execute their plan, the three family members procured datura fruit. They mixed the toxic fruit into Maruti's food and fed it to him over a period of a couple of days. Maruti died two days after consuming the poisoned meals.

Following his death, Ganga Bai, Kishan, and Prapulla chopped Maruti's body into small pieces to try and dispose of the evidence. However, their actions were uncovered when neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the house.

The neighbors alerted the police, who arrived at the scene, discovered the chopped body, and subsequently arrested Ganga Bai, Kishan, and Prapulla for the murder.

Following the conclusion of the trial, the local court found all three family members guilty. The court awarded the death sentence to the siblings, Kishan Suthar and Prapulla, while their mother, Ganga Bai, was sentenced to life imprisonment for her role in the crime.
