Hyderabad Authorities to Issue Notices to 5.82 Lakh Unmapped Voters

Election authorities in Hyderabad district will issue notices and initiate a verification process for 5.82 lakh voters whose details could not be mapped to the 2002 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral rolls. The affected electors represent 20.80 percent of the electorate across the district’s 15 Assembly constituencies, with the highest concentration recorded in Secunderabad Cantonment at nearly 66,450 unmapped records.

The unmapped status applies to voters who submitted Enumeration Forms during the ongoing SIR phase but whose entries showed no direct match with previous records from 2002. Alongside Secunderabad Cantonment, significant numbers of unmapped voters were identified in Jubilee Hills with 63,448 electors, Musheerabad with 58,320, Secunderabad with 47,180, Amberpet with 47,100, Sanathnagar with 43,340, and Karwan with 40,700 electors.

Out of the total mapped electors across the district, 7.98 lakh voters, or 28.5 percent, were self-mapped. Another 14.14 lakh voters, accounting for 50.5 percent of the mapped electorate, were linked through progeny details.

Hyderabad District Election Officer and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan stated that notices will be served to all electors whose current details failed to link automatically with the 2002 SIR rolls. He clarified that the inability to map a record does not lead to immediate deletion from the voting list. Instead, electors will be provided an opportunity to establish their eligibility through a document verification process.

Following the issuance of notices, election officials will schedule hearings where voters can present indicative documents to prove their residence and explain their electoral history during the period covered by the 2002 revision. Officials attributed the high volume of unmapped records to changes in residential addresses, spelling variations in voter names, and clerical discrepancies in legacy records that prevented automated database mapping.

The verification drive aims to ensure that only eligible citizens remain on the official electoral rolls while giving genuine voters the necessary platform to verify their credentials and update their entries.
