Husband and Mother-in-Law Arrested After Pregnant Woman Dies By Suicide In Gadipeddapur

A 24-year-old woman, who was five months pregnant, died by suicide at her residence in Gadipeddapur village of Medak district on June 25. The tragedy occurred after the victim was subjected to continuous harassment and torture by her husband and her mother-in-law. Following the incident, the Medak police arrested both the husband and the mother-in-law, who have now been remanded to judicial custody.
According to police officials, the victim took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself with a saree inside her home in Gadipeddapur village. The continuous mental and physical torture by her family members reportedly drove her to suicide. The tragic incident resulted in the death of both the 24-year-old woman and her unborn five-month-old child.
The investigation into the suicide revealed that the severe harassment stemmed from suspicions held by her family. The husband and the mother-in-law reportedly suspected the young pregnant woman of having an extramarital affair. In addition to the ongoing torture, the two accused had been demanding that a DNA test be conducted on the unborn child.
The police stated that the victim was pushed to the brink due to this constant questioning of her character and the persistent demands for a DNA test. Unable to bear the continuous harassment and torture from her husband and mother-in-law, she hanged herself with a saree at her residence.
Following the tragic death of the pregnant woman, the Medak police registered a case against the husband and the mother-in-law. The police arrested both individuals in connection with the harassment and the subsequent suicide. The law enforcement officials then produced the two accused before a local magistrate. Following their appearance in court, both the husband and the mother-in-law were remanded to judicial custody.
