HMWSSB Seizes 14 Illegal Water Pumps in SR Nagar Raids

HYDERABAD — Officials from the vigilance wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seized 14 illegal mini submersible pump sets during early morning raids in Bapu Nagar, SR Nagar, under the Khairatabad Zone on Friday.

The special inspection drive was carried out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. during regular water supply hours. Vigilance teams found several consumers illegally attaching motorized pumps directly to the Water Board's distribution pipelines to draw water.

According to a press release issued by the HMWSSB, the unauthorized use of suction pumps severely reduced water pressure and availability for neighbouring households, disrupting the broader distribution network in the area. Officials took immediate action against the violators and confiscated the equipment.

The Water Board reiterated that connecting motors directly to municipal supply lines is illegal and hampers equitable water distribution. The department warned that vigilance inspections would continue across the zone, and strict action would be initiated against any consumers found tampering with the supply lines.
