HMDA Medipally Layout Auction Fetches Near Rs 120 Crore From Sale Of 63 Plots

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) generated nearly ₹120 crore on Wednesday through a successful land auction of residential plots in the Medipally layout of Hyderabad. Out of 68 plots offered for sale, 63 were successfully auctioned to property bidders, demonstrating strong market confidence and a high demand for residential developments in the region.
The competitive bidding process saw prices soar well above the established reserve price of ₹45,000 per square yard. The average bid for the Medipally layout settled at ₹56,260 per square yard. Highlighting the intense competition among participants, the highest bid for a single plot reached ₹80,000 per square yard.
HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad stated that the Medipally sale reflected robust market confidence. He noted that the auction attracted significant participation from bidders across Hyderabad and its surrounding regions, highlighting the growing appetite for well-planned, HMDA-developed residential layouts.
According to HMDA officials, the robust turnout and competitive bidding highlight Medipally’s attractiveness as a residential hub. The successful event reinforces the authority’s ongoing strategy of monetizing its prime land parcels through transparent public auctions.
The Medipally layout auction is part of a phased exercise by the development authority to sell land across multiple locations in the region. Under this program, the HMDA is scheduled to put residential plots in Mokila, Chandanagar, Bairagiguda, Narsingi, and Bowrampet under the hammer in auctions running until June 30.
However, the overall land sale process has not been entirely without hurdles for the authority. On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court issued a stay order on the sale of an 8.24-acre land parcel located in Banjara Hills, which was also part of the scheduled auctions.
