Hitec City Railway Station Redevelopment Nears Completion At Cost Of Rs 35.61 Crore

The redevelopment of the Hitec City Railway Station in Hyderabad is nearing completion under the Railway Ministry’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. As of June 18, 2026, South Central Railway authorities are expediting final works to commission the upgraded facility, which has been transformed at an estimated cost of Rs 35.61 crore to serve the city's busy IT corridor.

The major infrastructure project, executed in two phases, aims to provide modern passenger amenities, improved accessibility, and enhanced connectivity. The station currently handles approximately 6,000 passengers on a daily basis and is served by more than 60 MMTS and suburban train services, with commuter numbers rising significantly during weekends.

Railway officials confirmed that most of the civil works and passenger amenity installations are now complete. The redevelopment has delivered a contemporary façade for the station, along with a modernized station building and a newly developed entrance portico.

Among the major upgrades is a new 12-metre-wide foot over bridge, which comes equipped with ramps, lifts, and escalators to ease passenger movement. To support all travelers, the station has been outfitted with Divyangjan-accessible infrastructure.

Additional improvements include upgraded platform shelters, a new passenger waiting hall, and renovated toilet blocks. The station's circulating area has been enhanced, and parking facilities have been upgraded to handle local traffic better. The facility also features improved lighting and environmentally sustainable elements.

For commuter convenience, railway authorities have upgraded train information systems and installed passenger-friendly signage throughout the premises.

Officials noted that they had previously considered inaugurating the upgraded station during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Hyderabad. While that launch was deferred due to unavoidable reasons, the station is now expected to be officially opened to the public shortly. The Hitec City station is one of several facilities in the Hyderabad region being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
