High Court Grants Medical Bail to Ex-Maoist Gade Innaiah to Stay in Kukatpally

The Telangana High Court has granted a two-month interim medical bail to Gade Innaiah, alias Gade Inna Reddy, a former Maoist and social activist, permitting him to stay at his daughter’s residence in the Kukatpally locality of Hyderabad. The court ordered his temporary release to facilitate essential medical treatment that could not be provided within the prison system.

A vacation bench comprising Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka and Justice Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy issued the order on June 4, 2026. Under the terms of the ruling, Innaiah is permitted to remain at the Kukatpally residence until August 4, 2026, specifically to undergo physiotherapy sessions following a surgical procedure.

Innaiah had been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on charges of allegedly making statements in support of the banned organization, the Communist Party of India (Maoist). Following his arrest, he was held in custody.

In his plea to the court, Innaiah stated that he had undergone surgery on April 27, 2026, and required regular and specialised physiotherapy to aid his recovery.

During the court hearing, the National Investigation Agency presented a formal confirmation from the prison authorities. This official record confirmed that the Chanchalguda Central Prison, where Innaiah was being held, does not possess the specialised physiotherapy facilities required for his post-surgery rehabilitation.

Recognising the lack of treatment facilities inside the Chanchalguda Central Prison, the High Court bench decided to grant the interim bail. However, the court imposed several strict conditions to govern his temporary release.

According to the court's directions, Innaiah must remain under constant police surveillance at his daughter's home in Kukatpally. Furthermore, the court has placed strict restrictions on who can visit him, limiting visitors strictly to his immediate family members and his legal counsel.

The vacation bench also issued a stern warning that any form of interference with the ongoing investigation by the NIA would result in the immediate cancellation of his interim bail. Gade Innaiah is required to surrender back to the prison authorities by 5:00 p.m. on August 4, 2026.
