High Court Directs Vijaya Dairy to House Seethaphalmandi School in Lalapet Quarter

The Telangana High Court on June 30, 2026, directed the Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation, known as Vijaya Dairy, to temporarily house the Seethaphalmandi-II Government Girls Primary School in a vacant quarter in Lalapet, Hyderabad. Justice Juvvadi Sridevi issued the directive after noting critical safety concerns regarding the school's existing dilapidated building.
The court's order came during a hearing for a writ petition filed by local parents and residents. The petitioners approached the High Court seeking the allotment of five acres of government land to construct a permanent school building, as well as immediate interim measures to ensure the safety and continuous education of the students.
According to the petitioners, despite a broader government decision to upgrade government schools in core urban areas, no land had actually been allotted for this specific school. This lack of action left the students studying in a hazardous environment.
During the court proceedings, the counsel representing the petitioners, the Government Pleader for School Education, and the legal counsel for Vijaya Dairy informed the Court that a joint inspection had been conducted. This inspection, carried out following previous directions from the court, revealed that Quarter No. A-2 at the Lalapet premises of Vijaya Dairy was vacant and suitable for relocation.
Considering the safety and well-being of the young students, Justice Sridevi directed Vijaya Dairy to permit the Government Girls Primary School to function temporarily from Quarter No. A-2. The court ordered that this temporary arrangement will remain in place for the academic year 2026-27, effective retrospectively from June 29.
After being informed by the parties that the vacant quarter currently lacks active electricity and water connections, the Court directed Vijaya Dairy to provide these basic amenities forthwith so that classes could run without any hindrance.
The High Court has posted the matter to August 25 for the filing of a counter-affidavit by the TG Dairy Development Corporation.
