High Court Directs Police to Allow BRS Meeting at Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium

On Friday, the Telangana High Court directed the police to grant permission to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party to hold its 'Yuva Sangrama Sadassu' meeting at the Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium in Saroor Nagar, Hyderabad. Justice T Madhavi Devi issued these directions while hearing a lunch motion moved by the BRS party, which had approached the High Court after local police denied permission for the event. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
The petition in the High Court was filed by Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Ibrahimpatnam. In the petition, Kishan Reddy alleged that the police had actively denied permission for the party's proposed meeting. The event was being planned as a major gathering, with expectations of around 4,000 party workers attending the venue in Saroor Nagar.
According to the petitioner, the BRS party had previously submitted official representations to key local authorities, including the district collector and the Malkajgiri police commissioner, seeking the necessary permission to host the 'Yuva Sangrama Sadassu' at the indoor stadium. Kishan Reddy alleged that these representations remained completely unresponsive, which ultimately forced the political party to approach the High Court for legal intervention.
Upon hearing the lunch motion on Friday, Justice Madhavi Devi passed directions allowing the meeting to proceed, but laid down specific guidelines for the event's organization. The High Court directed the police to ensure that there is no blockage on the national highway abutting the Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium during the course of the BRS meeting.
Furthermore, the court directed the police to take necessary measures to ensure that no traffic snarls occur in the surrounding area. The police were also instructed to ensure that no law and order issues arise in view of the Saturday meeting. The local police authorities are now tasked with managing the security and traffic flow around the venue to comply with the High Court's directives.
