High Court Advocate Omer Farooq Addresses Career Guidance Session in Shantinagar

High Court advocate Omer Farooq addressed local youth on the growing career opportunities in the legal profession during a career guidance session organised at Masjid-e-Alamgiri in Shantinagar, Hyderabad.

The event was held as part of a monthly lecture series organised by the Masjid Committee focusing on health and education. The session saw youngsters gather at the venue to learn about educational and professional paths in the field of law.

Speaking to the gathering, Farooq stated that the legal profession commands the same respect as the medical field and provides immense satisfaction when securing relief for clients. He advised students aspiring to pursue law to build strong reading habits and to develop their comprehension and analytical skills.

Farooq also spoke about the competitive nature of admissions to five-year integrated law courses. He noted that around 80,000 candidates appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to compete for roughly 4,000 seats across 25 national law universities and other affiliated colleges. He added that while general seat reservations are not part of the standard process, NALSAR University of Law earmarks 35 seats specifically for students from Telangana.

During a question-and-answer session, Farooq explained that opportunities in the legal field extend beyond courtroom litigation. He highlighted prospects in law firms, corporate organisations, and public sector undertakings, noting that these sectors offer stable employment and attractive compensation.

He further identified specialised domains such as company law, trademarks, patents, and legal reasoning as lucrative choices. He also pointed to real estate as an expanding area, where companies increasingly depend on legal professionals to verify property documentation before completing land transactions.

Earlier in the programme, Masjid Committee member Zaheer Ahmad and Majlis leader Mohammed Arif Rizwan formally welcomed the attendees to the session.
