HCA to Expand Cricket Across All 33 Telangana Districts With Zonal Academies

HYDERABAD — The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) announced plans on Wednesday to roll out a comprehensive roadmap for promoting cricket across all 33 districts of Telangana. Speaking at a media interaction in Hyderabad, T. Seshnarayan, Chairman of the HCA's Constitution of the District Cricket Infrastructure Development Committee (CDCIDC), stated that the initiative aims to identify young talent and expand sporting opportunities far beyond the twin cities.

Addressing the media in the presence of affiliated District Cricket Associations’ secretaries, Seshnarayan explained that while establishing full district units across the entire state will require time, the CDCIDC will begin coordinating the setup of offices in all 33 districts. These offices will feature accommodation facilities for support staff, groundstaff, and former cricketers, who will be brought in to conduct coaching workshops and promote the sport.

Local officials have been directed to identify potential grounds and suitable office spaces over the next two weeks. Priority will be given to existing affiliated units with established infrastructure, such as Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar.

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who serves as the Head of Cricket Operations for the HCA, has designed an action plan to bring the game into interior rural areas through zonal academies. To provide players with more match experience, zonal-level T-10 tournaments will also be introduced as part of the developmental platform.

Seshnarayan noted that the recent success of the TG20 League encouraged the association to look beyond the twin cities and tap into the abundance of talent present across Telangana. While only a limited number of districts currently compete in the HCA Leagues, the association intends to ensure representation for all 33 districts once the formal district units are established under the HCA Constitution.
