Harish Rao Demands Sitting High Court Judge Probe Into Telangana 22A Property List

Former minister and BRS leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday met families affected by the Section 22A prohibited-properties issue at Shapur Nagar in Qutbullapur, demanding that the Telangana state government order an inquiry led by a sitting High Court judge into the matter.

Addressing residents during the meeting in Qutbullapur, Harish Rao urged the government to issue a comprehensive white paper detailing the issue. He asserted that the state administration should act suo-moto to remove erroneous entries from the 22A list immediately, without placing the burden on citizens, while taking strict disciplinary action against responsible officials.

Harish Rao stated that the Congress-led state government had created widespread confusion among property owners by adding legitimate private lands, residential colonies, and agricultural plots to the prohibited list. He assured the gathered families that the BRS would stand firmly with them in their fight for resolution.

The former minister also questioned recent claims made by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who had stated that 98 percent of erroneous properties had already been cleared from the prohibited list.

"If 98% of the properties have been removed, why are hundreds of affected people still coming to us with their grievances? The state govt made the mistake. Why should ordinary people now run around govt offices and submit applications to correct it?" Harish Rao asked.

He pointed out that properties in several established and decades-old residential areas were facing severe restrictions due to the listing. Among the impacted locations highlighted by the former minister were Padmarao Nagar Phase-I, Springfield, and areas across Nizampet, where residents continue to report difficulties regarding their property documentation.
