Harish Rao Criticises Telangana Government Over Poor Quality School Uniforms

Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the Assembly T. Harish Rao has criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the alleged poor quality of school uniforms distributed to students across Telangana.

In a statement issued in Hyderabad, Harish Rao said that while the government spoke about achieving global standards in education, it was unable to provide quality uniforms to school students. He stated that uniforms had not reached several schools, and in locations where they were delivered, the sizes were improper.

He further claimed that the supplied uniforms were losing colour after only a couple of washes. According to Harish Rao, against the requirement of two pairs of uniforms per student, schools where deliveries occurred had not received even a single complete pair for all enrolled children.

The BRS leader criticised the decision to award the uniform contract to the Mafatlal company, alleging that the Chief Minister favoured middlemen from Gujarat over handloom weavers from Telangana.

In addition to the uniform issue, Harish Rao claimed that the state government had failed to clear Aarogyasri health scheme dues and pay salaries to health scheme staff. He stated that staff working for the scheme had not received salaries for the past 18 months.

He added that government hospitals in Siddipet district had not received health scheme funds since November 2023, with outstanding dues accumulating to ₹24 crore.
