Harish Rao Challenges CM Revanth Reddy on Farm Loan Waiver Implementation

Former minister and senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T Harish Rao challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over the implementation of the farm loan waiver scheme, offering to resign as an MLA if every eligible farmer in the Chief Minister's native village of Kondareddy Palle had received the promised benefit.

Speaking at a media conference at his camp office in Siddipet on Saturday evening, Harish Rao accused the Chief Minister of making false claims regarding welfare programmes during an address at a public meeting in Sangareddy. He dared the Chief Minister to participate in an open debate in the Legislative Assembly covering Rythu Bharosa, farm loan waivers, and student fee reimbursement.

Harish Rao stated that although the state government had indicated in the assembly that ₹35,000 crore was allocated for the farm loan waiver, only around ₹20,000 crore had actually been released. He challenged the Chief Minister to visit Kondareddy Palle without security personnel to verify the disbursement directly with local farmers.

The former minister also contested the state government's figures on employment generation. He pointed out that while the government had officially stated in the assembly that approximately 16,000 jobs had been provided since Congress assumed office, the Chief Minister was publicly claiming that 70,000 jobs were created. Harish Rao demanded an apology to unemployed youth over the discrepancy.

Addressing civic and infrastructure issues, Harish Rao alleged that the Singur reservoir had been depleted under the current administration, causing drinking water shortages across Medak, Sangareddy, and Kamareddy districts, where water was reportedly being supplied only once every two or three days. He also criticised the government for neglecting the Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar irrigation projects launched under the previous BRS administration.

Regarding welfare cards, Harish Rao stated that official assembly records showed the previous BRS government had issued 6,47,479 ration cards benefiting nearly 20 lakh people. He added that student fee reimbursement arrears had remained pending for nearly two and a half years, calling on the government to clear accumulated dues rather than announcing new payment plans.
