Harish Rao Accuses Congress Government of Fabricating Farmer Scheme Figures

Former minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday accused the Congress government in Hyderabad of presenting contradictory and fabricated expenditure figures regarding its welfare schemes for farmers.

Speaking in Hyderabad, Rao pointed out significant discrepancies in the financial claims made by the top leadership of the state government. He highlighted that Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka claimed the government had spent ₹1.56 lakh crore for farmers, while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy claimed the total expenditure was ₹1.75 lakh crore.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Rao questioned the validity of these conflicting numbers, asking which of the two figures was actually true. The former minister alleged that the Congress leadership was resorting to fabricated statistics because it had very little to show on the ground in terms of actual development.

Rao also raised questions about the budget timeline and allocations. He questioned how the state government could claim to have spent between ₹1.56 lakh crore and ₹1.75 lakh crore on the agricultural sector by June 2026, when the total budget allocation for the agriculture department up to March 31, 2027, was only about ₹82,000 crore.

He questioned whether the government had spent money that was never officially allocated in the budget, or if these were imaginary figures designed to mislead the state's farmers.

Furthermore, Rao alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was attempting to divert public attention away from the administration's failure to implement its election promises. He claimed the government was doing this by staging publicity events in the name of farmers.

Rao questioned what the government had actually delivered to the farming community, apart from what he described as publicity stunts under the banner of the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
