Hanamkonda Police Arrest Cyber Fraudster for Fake IT Catering Contracts

The Hanamkonda police have arrested an inter-district cyber fraudster who allegedly cheated hostel owners across multiple districts by offering fake catering contracts, Warangal Commissioner of Police Swetha announced on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Shabbir, who also operated under the alias Kiran Kumar. According to the police, Shabbir posed as a representative of an information technology firm and approached hostel owners with lucrative offers to supply daily food to company employees.

Under the pretext of finalising these business deals, the accused collected money from the victims for agreements, registration procedures, and the purchase of required equipment. Once the payments were transferred to his account, Shabbir switched off his mobile phone and cut off all communication with the hostel operators.

Police investigations revealed that the accused was involved in multiple fraudulent operations across different districts. Authorities have identified 23 cases and six cybercrime complaints linked to him, which together account for a total fraud amount of Rs 36.99 lakh. Among these, 10 cases were registered specifically under the jurisdiction of the Warangal Police Commissionerate.

Following his arrest, police froze Rs 13.09 lakh found in his bank account. Investigating officers also seized three mobile phones, SIM cards, bank passbooks, a cheque book, and ATM cards from his possession.
