H-FAST Seizes 110 kg Adulterated Chicken in Charminar Food Godown Raid

A joint team of the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) and Food Safety officials conducted a raid on an unlicensed fast food godown in Panch Mohalla, New Laad Bazar, in the Charminar area of Hyderabad on 19 June 2026. The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of adulterated food materials and the apprehension of two individuals.

During the inspection of the food storage and preparation unit, authorities seized approximately 110 kilograms of prepared fried chicken and 90 litres of loose cooking oil. They also confiscated artificial food colours that were allegedly being used in the food preparation.

According to the food safety officials, the establishment was operating entirely without a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence. The raid exposed extremely unhygienic conditions where the food materials were being stored and prepared.

The joint H-FAST and Food Safety team identified multiple safety and health violations at the premises. Among the key violations was the use of prohibited food colours to prepare the food.

Additionally, officials found that the operators were repeatedly using stale cooking oil. The unit also lacked any water quality certification, and the overall sanitation standards at the facility were found to be very poor.

Two persons who were involved in running the illegal food unit were nabbed by the authorities during the operation. Following the inspection and the seizure of the adulterated materials, a case has been registered against the operators.
