GRP Secunderabad destroys 735 kg of seized ganja worth Rs 3.22 crore in Bhongir mandal

The Government Railway Police (GRP) Secunderabad district on Tuesday destroyed about 735 kilograms of seized ganja, valued at Rs 3.22 crore, at a private industry in Thokkapur of Bhongir mandal. The disposal operation targeted illegal contraband that had been confiscated during various law enforcement actions.

The destroyed contraband had been seized by railway police officers across 51 different cases in three distinct divisions, which include the Secunderabad urban division, the Secunderabad rural division, and the Kazipet division.

According to official reports, the largest share of the seized contraband came from the Secunderabad urban division. In this division, the GRP had registered 33 cases and confiscated 499.213 kilograms of ganja, which was valued at Rs 2,27,30,250.

In the Kazipet division, the railway police had registered 16 cases, leading to the seizure of 223.445 kilograms of ganja. The value of the contraband seized from this division was estimated at Rs 90,99,625.

The remaining portion of the destroyed drug was seized from the Secunderabad rural division. In this division, the police registered two cases and recovered 14.825 kilograms of ganja, with an estimated value of Rs 3,70,625.

The entire destruction process of the contraband was officially recorded in accordance with established procedures. The disposal was supervised by the Secunderabad railway district drug disposal committee.

Committee chairman Gone Sandeep and nodal officer and member S. N. Jawed were present to oversee and record the permanent disposal of the seized drugs. The committee ensured that the entire quantity of the seized ganja from all 51 cases was completely destroyed at the private industrial facility.
