Grandmother and Two Children Die in Kalalwadi House Fire in Miryalaguda

A devastating house fire in the Kalalwadi locality of Miryalaguda, Telangana, claimed the lives of a grandmother and her two grandchildren late on Thursday night, June 4, 2026. The tragic incident occurred just one month after the children's father had passed away, leaving the family in deep grief.
The deceased have been identified by authorities as 45-year-old Chandrakala and her two grandchildren, 16-year-old Lakshman and 14-year-old Pranathi.
According to the information available from local sources, the family had recently experienced a major loss with the death of the children's father a month prior. Following his passing, the children's mother, Dhanamma, had travelled to Pune in search of a livelihood to support the family. She had left her children, Lakshman and Pranathi, under the care of her mother, Chandramma, in Miryalaguda.
The fire broke out late in the night and quickly engulfed the entire house, trapping the three occupants inside. The intensity of the flames prevented any immediate rescue attempts, and all three victims were burnt alive inside the residence before they could be reached.
Upon receiving information about the fire, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot in the Kalalwadi area. The fire crews managed to battle the flames and eventually bring the blaze under control. Their prompt action successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring houses in the immediate vicinity.
While the exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially established, investigating officials suspect that either an electrical short circuit or a gas leak inside the house could have triggered the accident. Further investigation by the authorities is currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
