Goshamahal Police Arrest Moneylender Mukesh For Extortion And Intimidation

The Goshamahal Police in Hyderabad have arrested a 55-year-old moneylender, identified as Mukesh, on charges of cheating, extortion, criminal intimidation, and insulting the modesty of a woman. The arrest, which took place following a complaint registered on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, occurred in the Jinsi Chawrah area near Mohandas Mutt where Mukesh resides.
According to the police, the case was initiated after a local resident filed a complaint detailing harassment over a loan. The complainant had borrowed a sum of ₹4.5 lakh from Mukesh on interest. Although the borrower had been regularly paying the monthly interest as agreed, Mukesh allegedly began demanding additional money from him.
The harassment escalated significantly on June 30, 2026. The complainant alleged that Mukesh, accompanied by another man named Vikas Singh, forcibly entered his residence. Once inside, the two men reportedly abused the complainant and his family, threatened them, and attempted to physically assault the borrower.
Following the confrontation, the accused allegedly pressured the complainant to withdraw his police complaint, causing significant fear and mental distress to the victim and his family members.
During the subsequent police investigation, officers seized several items from Mukesh's possession. The seized materials included a mobile phone, blank stamp papers of various denominations, and the complainant's personal documents, specifically an Aadhaar card and a photograph.
Following his arrest, Mukesh was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. Police records indicate that Mukesh is a suspect history-sheeter at the Mangalhat Police Station, where he has previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act along with other offences. The police also noted that Mukesh's son is a registered rowdy-sheeter at the same police station.
The second accused, Vikas Singh, is currently absconding. The Goshamahal Police are continuing their efforts to apprehend Singh, and further investigation into the extortion and intimidation case is underway.
