Golconda Police Arrest Telugu Director Pavan Sadineni in Sexual Assault Case

The Golconda police in Hyderabad have arrested Telugu film director Pavan Sadineni in connection with a sexual assault case registered against him. The 39-year-old filmmaker was taken into custody nearly 10 days ago and produced before a court. Following court proceedings, he was remanded to judicial custody and is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail.

According to the police, the complaint against the director was filed by a woman who also works in the film industry. The complainant stated in her formal report that Sadineni had established a relationship with her by promising to marry her. She alleged that the director subsequently sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions under the pretext of that marriage promise.

Investigators said the situation escalated when the woman later approached Sadineni to discuss formalising their marriage. Instead of fulfilling the commitment, the director allegedly began evading the matter and eventually cut off contact, refusing to respond to her further. Realising that she had been cheated, the woman decided to report the matter to law enforcement authorities at the Golconda police station.

Based on the allegations detailed in her complaint, the Golconda police registered a case against Sadineni. The police team proceeded to arrest the director and produced him before the designated court for judicial remand. He was subsequently transferred to Chanchalguda Central Jail, where he remains in custody.

Sadineni has directed several Telugu films over the course of his career in the industry. His notable directorial credits include the 2013 romantic comedy Prema Ishq Kaadhal, the 2016 release Savitri, and the 2021 film Senapathi.

The director had also been working on his upcoming Telugu project titled Aakasamlo Oka Tara. The upcoming film stars actor Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, alongside Satvika Veeravalli and other actors.
