Golconda college student booked for murder after throwing newborn from second floor

A murder case has been registered against an 18-year-old Intermediate student after she allegedly threw her newborn baby boy from a second-floor washroom ventilator shaft at her residential college in Golconda, Hyderabad, on Tuesday morning. The infant died as a result of the fall, prompting a police investigation into the incident.

According to the local police, the teenager developed labour pains early on Tuesday morning while at the residential college. She subsequently went to the college washroom, where she gave birth to a baby boy. Fearing that her family members would come to know about the birth, she allegedly pushed the newborn through the ventilator shaft of the washroom on the second floor.

The incident came to light after the principal of the residential college spotted the body of the infant lying on a slab of the building. The college authorities immediately alerted the local police, who arrived at the scene to commence their investigation.

To find out who was responsible, the police officers verified the CCTV footage recorded on the college campus. After reviewing the security camera footage, the investigators zeroed in on the 18-year-old student.

During the subsequent police questioning, the student admitted to her actions. She disclosed to the officers that she had been in a relationship with a relative. Furthermore, she stated that neither her teachers at the residential college nor her family members had any knowledge or suspicion that she was pregnant.

Following the incident, the college authorities filed a formal complaint. Based on this complaint, the local police registered a criminal case of murder against the Intermediate student. The student is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.
