Godrej Agrovet to Set Up Rs 300 Crore Oil Palm Complex in Khammam

Representatives of Godrej Agrovet met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the MCR HRD Institute in Hyderabad to discuss the expansion of oil palm cultivation and the establishment of a ₹300-crore private integrated oil palm complex at Gubbagurthi village in Konijerla mandal of Khammam district. The mega project is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 700 people in the region.

During the high-level meeting, the company delegation submitted a comprehensive report outlining their plans to expand oil palm cultivation in Telangana. Godrej Agrovet Corporate Affairs President Rakesh Swamy and the company's Oil Palm Business CEO Sougata Niyogi briefed Chief Minister Reddy on the various phases and requirements of the project.

The Telangana government has already allocated 113.5 acres of land at Gubbagurthi village for the setting up of this integrated complex. According to the project plans, the allocated land will be utilized to construct an oil palm processing unit, a nursery, a dedicated research and development centre, and a seed garden.

To support the long-term expansion of the seed garden, the company representatives requested the state government to allocate an additional 35 to 40 acres of land adjacent to the current site. Additionally, they raised the need for road widening works to facilitate smoother transport and logistics for the upcoming processing unit.

Responding positively to the company's proposals, Chief Minister Reddy directed state officials to immediately take up the requested road expansion works. The infrastructure development will be executed under the supervision of the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC).

The ₹300-crore project represents a significant step in expanding oil palm cultivation in the Khammam district. With the government already handing over 113.5 acres of land in Gubbagurthi village, the groundwork for the oil palm processing unit, nursery, research and development centre, and seed garden is set to begin. The additional request of 35 to 40 acres by Godrej Agrovet aims to scale up the seed garden's capacity, further boosting the regional agricultural economy.
