GHMC to Launch Online CRS Portal for Birth and Death Registrations
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will launch a new Civil Registration System portal to streamline birth and death registrations across Hyderabad.
GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan convened a meeting with concerned officials to discuss birth and death registration processes in the city. The session included a sensitisation programme on the upcoming Civil Registration System (CRS) portal, according to an official press statement.
During the meeting, Commissioner Karnan stressed the vital importance of timely birth and death registrations. He noted that the prompt issuance of official certificates stands as a primary statutory responsibility of the GHMC. Officials in attendance received a briefing on the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD) Act. They were also introduced to the features of the upcoming CRS portal, which has been designed as a simplified, citizen-friendly digital platform allowing residents to complete registration procedures online.
In addition to civic registration updates, the GHMC official conducted an extensive review regarding vector-borne disease prevention measures across the municipality. Directives were issued to municipal staff to guarantee 100 percent utilisation of adulticides and larvicides during field operations. Karnan instructed teams to intensify active disease surveillance, accelerate source reduction activities, and strengthen specific health interventions surrounding confirmed positive cases.
The review also covered special Friday Dry Day drives that are being conducted across all GHMC circles. These targeted anti-mosquito drives officially started on August 7 to target breeding grounds and curb vector proliferation.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health participated in the review, providing an assessment of circle-wise dengue cases, seasonal preparedness, mosquito behaviour patterns, and emergency outbreak response measures. Meanwhile, representatives from the Metropolitan Surveillance Unit presented comprehensive updates covering disease surveillance, hotspot mapping, and coordinated field interventions taking place across the city's circles.
