GHMC Official Arrested by ACB for Taking Rs 20,000 Bribe in Santosh Nagar

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) official in Santosh Nagar, located within the Charminar Zone, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The arrested official has been identified as Ch. Prabhavathi, who was serving as the Town Planning Supervisor at GHMC’s Santosh Nagar Circle 25. According to ACB officials, she was caught red-handed during a trap operation while accepting the illicit cash from the complainant in exchange for doing an official favour.
Investigators stated that the bribe had been demanded by the supervisor for processing a building permission file. The accused official allegedly withheld the necessary clearances, requiring the bribe to issue and hand over the official building permit order and the work commencement letter to the complainant.
Following the successful trap, the ACB team recovered the entire bribe sum of Rs 20,000 from Prabhavathi's possession.
After completing the necessary legal procedures and seizure formalities, the ACB officials produced the arrested supervisor before the special court for ACB cases in Nampally.
