GHMC and Police Seize 90 Tonnes of Chicken Waste Bound for Andhra Pradesh

The Hyderabad police's H-FAST team, in collaboration with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), seized 90 tonnes of chicken waste from seven trucks on June 8, 2026. The intercepted shipment was being illegally smuggled to Andhra Pradesh to be used as fish feed, rather than being taken to the designated disposal site in Chengicherla.

The joint operation was initiated after the H-FAST team received specific information regarding the illegal movement of animal waste. Acting on this intelligence, officials intercepted the seven trucks, which were carrying waste collected from various poultry shops across Hyderabad.

Investigations revealed that the trucks were en route to West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. The chicken waste was destined for commercial cultivation tanks, where it was to be used as feed for fishes.

Under municipal guidelines, such waste is required to be transported directly to the Chengicherla site for proper disposal. By intercepting the vehicles, the GHMC and H-FAST teams prevented the illegal transport of the 90 tonnes of chicken waste, ensuring it was diverted back to the appropriate facilities for safe disposal.

Following the seizure, authorities registered cases regarding the illegal transport and smuggling of the waste.
