Garbage dump on Miyapur-Bachupally road sparks anger over foul smell and scattered waste

A large garbage dump on the Miyapur–Bachupally road stretch near the RTC bus depot has become a major concern for residents and commuters in Hyderabad. The dump is located along the busy road that connects Miyapur, Bachupally, Bollarum, and the Outer Ring Road (ORR) exits 4 and 4A, turning the roadside into a significant eyesore.

The accumulation of mixed waste has turned the roadside into a daily nuisance for thousands of commuters who use the stretch. The dumped waste consists of plastic covers, food waste, and various other discarded materials that have piled up on the vacant land over time.

According to local residents of nearby colonies and apartment complexes, the foul odour emanating from the dump becomes significantly stronger during the evening hours and after rainfall, making it difficult for people to pass through the area. The stretch has experienced rapid residential growth in recent years, but the presence of the dump is creating a poor impression of the fast-growing residential hub.

Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Bachupally, expressed his concern over the deteriorating situation. He noted that while the route is a key road used by thousands of people every day, the stretch has essentially turned into a dumping yard. He explained that the smell becomes stronger in the evenings and after rain, making it difficult to pass through the area.

The issue is further compounded by stray animals in the area. Local residents pointed out that stray dogs and cattle frequently tear open the dumped garbage bags in search of food. This activity leaves waste strewn directly across the busy road, worsening the unsanitary conditions.

Despite the rapid development of nearby colonies and apartment complexes, the repeated dumping of waste on this vacant land remains an unresolved issue, causing ongoing distress to the local community and commuters alike.
